Tree on the Loose!

Posted in Uncategorized on July 8, 2007 by Lauren

You can relax now people. It has just been reported that the famous “Tree Bandit” I spoke of in my last post has been apprehended according to police reports. Here’s the short news blurb:

Police arrested a man late Saturday night who they say robbed a New Hampshire bank earlier that day disguised as a tree, according to MyFoxBoston.com.The suspect walked into the Citizen’s Bank in Manchester with tree branches duct taped to his body and demanded money from the teller.Click here to view the report from MyFoxBoston.com.The teller filled a bag with cash and the suspect took off. A dye pack inside the bag exploded, the Web site reported. The suspect was caught in his home, cops said.

Phew, glad that is over. I couldn’t look at a tree the same way anymore.

Sign up for Yahoo!…Even if You’re Blind

Posted in Uncategorized on June 30, 2007 by Lauren

I was on Yahoo’s site this morning trying to sign up for a Yahoo account when I ran across the following message:

Attention Blind or Visually Impaired Users: To complete this form you must enter a word that is part of an image. If you can’t read the image, Yahoo is happy to help you create your account. A representative from customer care will need to contact you. To request assistance with registration, please read the Yahoo! Terms of Service located at http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms. Once you have reviewed our policies, please provide your phone number and email address and send your request by visiting this URL - http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/edit/cgi_access

Really? Can a blind person really be reading that on a computer? Okay so they are so kind as to offer assistance for blind people, but in order to get that assistance you must read the policies…which is impossible if you are blind. Does anyone else find this funny and slightly ironic?
