Well it proved to be just what we thought it would be—the game to tell whether FSU was truly good or not. Sadly, the outcome wasn’t what we wanted.
While the Seminole’s defense didn’t disappoint, FSU’s first possession saw Christian Ponder throw an interception to a defender with no receiver within catching distance. From there it was all downhill. After 7 turnovers and a weak showing, the game ended with a 12-3 loss to the Demon Deacons.
It seems as if the Seminoles are singing the same old song: strong D, weak O. How many inexperienced and under-talented quarterbacks can we recruit in one decade? From Chris Rix and Drew Weatherford to Christian Ponder and D’Vaughntry Richardson, it’s as if we’re cursed by the recruiting gods.
Now don’t get all analytical on me…I know our qb’s are sophomores and need time to learn the offense, feel game experience, and become comfortable on the field; but we made excuses for the last 2 qb’s as well.
So on to next week at Jacksonville to face Colorado in what should be our third win of the season. Then we face Miami on the road in what will probably a deciding game for how the rest of the season will go.
At this point, it’s anybody’s guess as to whether we’ll even break .500 this year.
